Man arrested in Montenegro over 2008 Netherlands murder charge

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Montenegro in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old man in Breda on June 20, 2008. The victim was stabbed on Edisonstraat when leaving a bar after watching a football match.

The Breda man was stabbed in his wrist, neck and back. He collapsed and succumbed to his injuries a day after the stabbing.

Police investigation quickly identified a then 26-year-old man as a suspect. Investigation showed that he had fled the Netherlands, so the man was put on international wanted lists.

On August 15th, the authorities in Montenegro informed the Dutch police that the suspect had been arrested. He was extradited to the Netherlands on November 13th, the police said in a statement on Thursday.

The man was arraigned and remanded into custody for further investigation.
