Cops shoot aggressive man in Rotterdam apartment building
Police officers in Rotterdam shot a man in an apartment in IJsselmonde on Tuesday night, the police said in a statement. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The police responded to an apartment building on Chinese Tuin at around 10:30 p.m. after receiving a noise complaint. About 20 minutes later, a trauma helicopter and two ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The man approached the officers aggressively and "threateningly", police said in a statement. "They were forced to shoot."
Authorities initially said the suspect was conscious after the shooting. Firefighters then used a specially designed crane to get the man out of the flat and into one of the ambulances, which then rushed him to an area hospital.
He was seriously injured in the shooting, according to broadcaster NOS.
