Three arrested in connection with cop's assault in Rotterdam wedding procession
The police arrested three more suspects in connection with a police officer being knocked unconscious during a wedding procession in Rotterdam in August. The suspects are the 22-year-old groom, and the bride's 54-year-old father and 43-year-old mother, NOS reports.
All three are suspected of influencing witnesses. The groom is also suspected of insulting the police officer. A 25-year-old man from Rotterdam, the bride's brother, was arrested last month for actually assaulting the officer. He is still in custody.
The incident happened on August 30th. The police received multiple reports of the wedding procession driving dangerously and causing problems in Rotterdam. When the officer intervened, he was attacked from behind. He got such a hard blow to the head that he fell unconscious. He was left with a serious concussion and a whiplash.
According to RTV Rijnmond, family and friends of the couple refused to tell the police who had attacked the officer. Partly because of this, the investigation took unnecessarily long, the police said.
