Man shot dead on Rotterdam street

A man died in a shooting on Putsebocht in Rotterdam-Zuid on Wednesday night. The police are looking for the perpetrators. The circumstances around the shooting are not yet clear.

The shooting happened at around 10:30 p.m. First responders tried to resuscitate the victim, but it was to no avail. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Witnesses told newspaper AD that the man was sitting in a gray Opel Astra when someone fired six to eight shots at him. Another witness saw a man dressed in dark clothes running away.

The police are investigating. "We are talking to witnesses and viewing the camera images", a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. "We are looking hard for the perpetrator or perpetrators."

This fatal shooting is the 11th murder in the Rotterdam region so far this year.
