
Quicksand traps police dog, officer during foot pursuit
A police officer had to give up an on-foot pursuit of a suspected robber in Rotterdam-Hillegersberg on Thursday night when both he and his dog got stuck in quicksand. Emergency services responded en masse to free the two, RTL Nieuws reports.
The police officer and police dog were responding to a report of a robbery on Straatweg when they came a cross a swamp in the garden of the house. They sank into the quicksand and became stuck.
Four police cars and two fire trucks were dispatched to free the two. They succeeded and both officer and dog walked away with nothing more than a fright.
The suspected robber was searched for, but is still at large, RTV Rijnmond reports.
