Autumn hits NL: windy, wet and cool days ahead

Thursday will be the first real autumn day of the season in the Netherlands. The day will be rainy, windy and cool for this time of year with maximums climbing no higher than 18 degrees, according to Weeronline.

There will also be a strong northwesterly wind, especially in the coastal provinces. Gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour are expected along the coast. Short, but sometimes heavy showers will move across the country from north-west to south-east. In the second half of the afternoon, the showers will decrease in number and intensity from the west. Maximums will range between 16 degrees along the coast and 18 degrees in Limburg - cool for this time of year, when maximums are usually around 20 degrees.

Friday will start out dry inland, with only a few showers expected in the west in north. But in the course of the afternoon, an area with heavy rain will move across the country from the northwest. A strong south-westerly wind will blow at sea, and turn to the northwest in the evening. Maximums around 18 are expected.

Saturday and Sunday will have similar weather, with alternating showers and sunshine, moderate to strong winds, and maximums around 17 or 18 degrees.
