Prisoner on leave caught with loaded gun in car

The police arrested a 38-year-old man in the Tilburg district of Wandelbos on Wednesday morning. The man never returned from leave from a penitentiary institution in Hoogvliet. A loaded firearm was found in his car, AD reports.

The man sat in his car in front of an apartment building on Huismansstraat for three hours on Wednesday morning. Locals called the police because they found it suspicion that the car was running the entire time. The police checked the car's license plate and found it belonged to a man with a criminal record who had not returned to the Hoogvliet Penitentiary after being let out on leave on August 5th.

Responding officers found the man sleeping in the driver's seat of the car. He was woken and arrested. A sports bag on the passenger seat contained a gun loaded with eight bullets. What the man's intentions were with the gun, is not clear.
