Body found in Zuid-Holland home; 14 arrested
A man was found dead in a home on A.H. Verweijweg in the Zuid-Holland town of Berkel and Rodenrijs on Monday. The police arrested no less than 14 people on suspicion of a criminal offense. Exactly what they are suspected of, the police did not say.
Emergency services responded to the home at around 7:00 a.m., local residents said to the Telegraaf. "I was lying in bed and it woke me up", a neighbor said. "Then I quickly went outside to look and saw that everything was covered in police tape. I was sent away and later men in white suits came."
There were regularly more than 10 men in the home, the neighbor said. "Some of themwere there through an employment agency and worked in the greenhouses I think. But others were at home all day. They were Poles." She is not surprised by what happened. "About five months ago one of them rang the bell and asked in English if I would please caul the police because other men wanted to kill him. I did that and then the police arrested two people there. What else was done with that, I don't know. But I think it is really scary that someone actually died. I have two small children living here."
According to the neighbor, the residents of the home were always playing loud music, drinking a lot and doing drugs.
"This has a lot of impact", another neighbor said to the newspaper. "I have never experienced such a serious incident here." According to him, the police towed a way multiple cars for investigation.
