Body of missing teen found; died in an accident

An 18-year-old girl who went missing from Epe during the early hours of Saturday morning, was found dead in the outskirts of Oene on Sunday afternoon. She died in an accident - no crime was committed, the Gelderland police said on Twitter.

The young woman never came home after a party in the Gelderland town. She was last seen at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, according to NU.nl.

A massive search was launched for the girl, including many of her friends and family members. The search ended on Sunday afternoon after a body was found in Oene, near where the missing girl was last seen. The girl's father was at the scene where the body was found and was offered help by the police, according to newspaper AD.

The police did extensive investigation at the scene for hours. At around midnight, the police confirmed that it was the missing girl that was found. "We believe that she died in a fatal accident", the police said on Twitter. "A crime was ruled out. With this, the police investigation is closed."

As it involved an accident, the police will release no further details. Out of respect for her family and friends, the police asked that her photo no longer be shared.
