Year's first heatwave expected to hit NL next week

Time to get out the swim suits and sunscreen. Next week will be hot in the Netherlands, according to Buienradar. There's even a good chance of the first heatwave of the year.

"We speak of a heat wave when there are five days with 25 degrees of higher nationwide, of which there are also three days above 30 degrees", Nicolien Kroon of Buienradar said to RTL Nieuws. According to her, there is a 30 to 40 percent chance of this happening next week.

"On Sunday the warm weather starts with an average of 25 degrees in the Netherlands and in De Bilt 27 degrees. On Monday it could climb to 30 degrees and Tuesday and Wednesday will almost certainly be 30 degrees." On Tuesday there is a chance of maximums climbing as high as 35 degrees Celsius along the Netherlands' eastern border. "If it stays warm on Thursday, we can call it a heatwave."

The weather picture for the second half of next week is still uncertain. According to Kroon, it looks like it will be warm, but maybe also with some showers.
