Explosion heavily damages Hague building

Update 11:00 a.m. - updated the article to add a few new details from he police

An explosion caused significant damage to a building in The Hague during the early hours of Thursday morning, the police said on Twitter. As far as is known, no one was hurt. According to the police, someone was seen running away from the scene shortly before the explosion. 

The blast happened at around 1:30 a.m. at a building located on the corner of Jan Blankenstraat and Hoefkade, near Hollands Spoor station. The building houses a hair salon and a travel agency, among other things, according to NU.nl. The explosion damaged multiple buildings and nearby cars, shattering windows. 

The cause of the explosion is not yet known. The police cordoned off the area and are investigating.
