Police fire warning shots in highway chase; 4 suspects at large

The police fired warning shots on the A67 highway at the De Hogt junction near Veldhoven early on Wednesday morning. One person was arrested on the highway. This person fled after the police stopped a truck with foreign license plates. Four others are still on the run, NOS reports.

The police pulled the truck over because it was suspected that the truck had been stolen. When the police forced the driver to stop, he fled. At the same time, another car with foreign license plates also stopped. The people in this car also fled.

According to the police, a threatening situation arose during the chase and warning shots were fired by the pursuing officers. The police arrested one person, and are still looking for four others. A large number of police officers and sniffer dogs were deployed for the search.

Exactly what these people are suspected of, is not clear.
