Apeldoorn football club devastated by players' death in A1 highway accident

Two of four men killed in a one-sided accident on the A1 highway on Monday morning, played for football club A.V.V. Columbia in Apeldoorn. The club is "shocked and baffled" by their deaths, A.V.V. Columbia said in a statement on their website.

"Words fall short to be able to express this loss, there is only disbelief. The blow hit hard within the group of players and supervisors", the club said. All matches and training sessions for the coming week have been canceled. The club will commemorate the two players on Tuesday. "These members have been snatched from life and we are left devastated and full of disbelief."

The four victims died when their car crashed into a matrix sign on the A1 near Deventer on Monday morning. All four victims were men in their early 20s, according to RTL Nieuws.
