An 18-year-old woman was dragged from her bicycle and raped by an as yet unidentified man on Kasteellaan in Heusden during the early hours of Monday morning. The police searched for the perpetrators for hours, but so far no arrests were made. The young woman's mother was the one who found her daughter after the attack, various sources told AD.

According to the police, the girl went out with friends in the center of Asten on Sunday night. She cycled home at around 1:00 a.m. At Kasteellaan, she was pulled from her bike, dragged into the bushes and raped, the police said.

The girl's mother followed her daughter's progress home on her phone. When she stopped on Kasteellaan for a long time, the mother became worried and went to look for her. She found her daughter in the bushes, according to AD.

The perpetrator fled on foot just before 3:00 a.m. The police searched for him for hours, including with a police helicopter and sniffer dog, but to no avail. According to the police, the perpetrator is a Dutch speaking man between the ages of 20 and 25 years. He was wearing gray pants and a short, black jacket. He had a stubble beard and mustache, and spiky hair.
