Truck topples onto car in Rotterdam; one killed

A tank truck sped through an intersection on Jacques Dutilhweg in Rotterdam, crashing into a car and dragging it along. The truck then toppled, landing on the car. A 21-year-old man from Rotterdam, who was in the car, died in the accident, NOS reports.

It is believed that the tank truck came from an exit of the A16 highway. The truck driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the accident is not yet clear. Eyewitnesses told RTV Rijnmond that it seemed that the truck driver was unable to control the truck.

The truck was filled with isobutanol, a slightly flammable substance. There was no leakage and also no fire.
