Tourist hit by car on highway off-ramp in Amsterdam

A tourist was hit by a car on an exit from the A2 in Amsterdam on Tuesday night. The 21-year-old woman was taken to hospital. She was under the influence, NOS reports.

How seriously the tourist was injured is not known, but she was conscious and able to speak to emergency workers, according to the broadcaster. The exit at the Amstel junction was closed for a time for investigation.

How the woman ended up on the highway is not yet clear. "Whether or not she stepped out of a car is unclear", a spokesperson for the police said to NH Nieuws. "It's a strange place, because there is only an industrial area in the neighborhood."
