KLM improves punctuality; 85% of flights on time in 2018
Dutch airline KLM improved its punctuality last year, according to a study by aeronautical information agency OAG into the major airlines with the least chance of delays. KLM is the 10th most punctual airline, with 84.52 percent of its flights being on time. In 2017 the Dutch airline only made it to spot 30 on the rankings, AD reports.
OAG analyzed around 58 million flights by the 250 largest airlines in the world. Panama airline Copa Airlines came in first place with 89.79 percent of its flights departing on time - within 15 minutes from the original flight plan. Second and third place went to airBaltic from Latvia and Hong Kong Airlines.
The agency also looked at the punctuality of airports. Schiphol also made it into the top 10 of the most punctual large airports. Last year almost 78 percent of flights at Schiphol departed or arrived on time, making the Amsterdam airport the 8th most punctual large airport in the world. Japan's Tokyo International Airport has been number 1 on this list for years.
