Boy, 14, caught with gun at Rotterdam school

The police arrested a 14-year-old boy on Monday for taking a firearm to his school in Rotterdam Zuid. The illegal gun belongs to his parents, who were also arrested. The gun was found in a 15-year-old classmate's bag. This boy was also arrested, AD reports.

A spokesperson for the police would not tell AD whether the firearm was loaded, or which school was involved.

The 14-year-old's mother called the school because the boy had the gun over the weekend and she was worried that he took it to school with him. The school then called the police.

The younger boy was taken from the classroom. When it turned out the gun was with his 15-year-old friend, that boy was also taken outside. Both boys and their lockers were searched.

The police are investigating why they boy's parents had an illegal gun in their home.
