Another pedestrian struck, killed by apparent taxi
A pedestrian died after being hit by a car on Rozengracht in the center of Amsterdam on Tuesday morning. The accident happened on the tram lane, where only taxi drivers with a permit can drive, AD reports.
The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. The pedestrian died at the scene. As yet nothing is known about the victim's identity.
The driver was taken to a police station for questioning, as is standard procedure. The taxi driver was driving a black Toyota. For which company the driver works, is not known.
In March last year a 22-year-old cyclist died after she was hit by an Uber taxi in Amsterdam-Oost. The Public Prosecutor recently demanded 240 hours of community service against Uber driver Jasmin M., as well as a year long suspension of his driver's license.
