Neighbors rescue unconscious man from burning home
A residential farm in Riethoven, Noord-Brabant, burned to the ground on Sunday morning. One of the residents fell unconscious in the burning home and was rescued by two neighbors - a pig farmer and a woman walking her dog, RTL Nieuws reports.
"My husband went to feed the pigs at 6:00 a.m.", the pig farmer's wife said to RTL. "He saw a lot of smoke and first thought that his own company was on fire. Then he saw a red glow on the other side of the street and quickly ran towards it."
The elderly couple who lives on the farm were already making their way outside when the pig farmer arrived. Their son - a 45-year-old man who was staying with them for the weekend - was still inside the house. "Together with a local resident who was walking her dog, my husband went into the house. They brought the unconscious man out of the house."
The man inhaled a lot of smoke and was taken to hospital. His brother told Omroep Brabant that the man is in intensive care, but his condition is stable.
The farmhouse can be considered lost. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
