Footage released of suspect fleeing scene of Rotterdam shooting
The police released footage of a suspect fleeing the scene of a shooting on Willem Ruyslaan in Rotterdam last week in which a 64-year-old man was critically injured. The police believe this was an attempted assassination in the criminal underworld and hope the public can help identify the perpetrator.
This case was discussed on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday.
The shooting happened at around 11:00 a.m. on October 17th. The victim was sitting in a silver Volkswagen Polo with a passenger at the crossing of Oudedijk and Willem Ruyslaan when the perpetrator opened fire on him. The 64-year-old man was critically injured. He is still in hospital in critical condition. The passenger was not injured.
After the shooting the perpetrator fled on a scooter in the direction of Kralingsezoom. On 's Grvenweg he crashed into a moving car. The blow was so hard that the gunman may have been injured, though that is not immediately apparent as he got back up quickly, grabbed his bag and gun, and fled further on foot. He may have been limping.
The perpetrator was wearing a dark-colored jacket or vest. After he lost his helmet, he can be seen wearing a dark colored cap with a hoody over it.
The police call on anyone with information that can help find this gunman to come forward.
