Fmr. PM Wim Kok's funeral to be held Saturday

The funeral for former Prime Minister Wim Kok will be held on Saturday, followed by a commemoration service in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw that same afternoon. Both services are for invited guests only, NU.nl reports.

Others who want to express their condolences can do so in an online condolence register. Letters and flowers are also welcome and can be sent to the funeral home.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte asked the government institutions to hang their flags at half-mast on Saturday, out of respect for the former PvdA Prime Minister.

Kok passed away in an Amsterdam hospital this past Saturday at the age of 80. Reports of his death were met with sad and admiring reactions from the Netherlands and abroad. Former American president Bill Clinton was among those who expressed their condolences.
