Ryanair pilots to strike on Friday; 190 flights canceled

The Dutch pilots that work for Irish budget airline Ryanair will join an international strike by Ryanair cabin crew on Friday. The airline canceled a total of 190 flights for Friday, including at least 22 to and from Eindhoven Airport. Some 4 thousand Dutch passengers will be affected, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

A total of 11 arrivals and 11 departures are canceled at Eindhoven Airport on Friday. More may be canceled as Ryanair crew members in Belgium, Italy, Spain and Portugal are also striking. Including the already canceled flights, Ryanair had 27 flights from and 27 flights to Eindhoven Airport scheduled for Friday.

Pilots union VNV announced on Monday that the Dutch pilots will join the strike, NU.nl reports. According to the union, nothing has changed since the previous strike on August 10th. Dutch travelers weren't affected by last month's strike, because Ryanair deployed Belgian pilots to handle the flights to and from Eindhoven Airport. The court banned the airline from doing that again.

The Dutch pilots are striking for a better collective bargaining agreement.
