Women, children run over while cycling; motorist arrested

Four cyclists - two women and two children - were hit by a van on Heikantsepad in Volkel on Tuesday afternoon. The two women were seriously injured, the children sustained minor injuries. The van driver was arrested, Omroep Brabant reports.

Four ambulances and a trauma helicopter responded to the scene after the accident. The women were taken to hospital. The children were cared for in the neighborhood, a community police officer said to the broadcaster.

The police's Traffic Accident Analysis department is investigating how the accident happened.
