Teenagers arrested for arson at Den Bosch art school
Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of arson at the Avans University of Applied Sciences' art academy in Den Bosch on Sunday. An 18-year-old boy from Rosmalen turned himself in on Monday, and a 15-year-old boy from Den Bosch was arrested on Wednesday, the police announced on Thursday.
Both suspects were arraigned on Thursday. The 15-year-old was released from custody for the time being, the older suspect will stay in custody for another two weeks.
The 18-year-old reported to a police station with his mother on Monday, saying that he knows more about the fire, which the police were still investigating. The young man was arrested. Based on what he told the police, the teenager from Den Bosch was also arrested. The police did not say how the fire started. Both teenagers are suspected of arson. The investigation is still ongoing.
The fire caused an enormous cloud of smoke in the area on Sunday, according to NOS. The art academy is located next to the railway in Den Bosch, which meant that the fire also halted train traffic in the area for several hours on Sunday afternoon.
