One seriously hurt in Amsterdam shooting

A man was seriously injured in a shooting on Stromarkt in the center of Amsterdam on Saturday night. The victim has not yet been identified, AT5 reports.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. A man in a black hooded jacket and jeans opened fire on the victim. Witnesses told the Amsterdam broadcaster that the victim was hit in the head, after which the perpetrator calmly walked away in the direction of Nieuwendijk.

The victim was rushed to the hospital. The police combed the area for the perpetrator, also deploying a helicopter, but it was to no avail.

The police are calling on witnesses, or anyone else that can shed light on what happened, to come forward.
