Gelderland man faces prison for impregnating underage stepdaughters

The Public Prosecutor demanded six years in prison and institutionalized psychiatric treatment against a 42-year-old man from Kerkdriel accused of sexually abusing his two underage step daughters for years and impregnating them at age 15 and 13, RTL Nieuws reports.

According to the Public Prosecutor, the man sexually abused his two stepdaughters between 2013 and 2016. The two girls became pregnant in the summer of 2014 and the spring of 2015. In both cases they found out too late for an abortion. They both gave birth to a daughter. DNA tests revealed that the 42-year-old man fathered the babies. The babies were immediately placed with a foster family.

The man tried to play down his role in the abuse by claiming that his stepdaughters came on to him - they got into bed with him and took the initiative, he said, according to the broadcaster.

Brabants Dagblad reports that the girls' mother knew about the abuse, but did nothing to stop it and even tried to persuade her youngest daughter not to report it to the police.
