Hundreds of flights canceled at Schiphol
A total of 178 flights were canceled at Schiphol Airport on Thursday due to strong winds. The airport reports 103 of cancelations for Friday, though whether these were caused by the weather is not clear.
So far 50 scheduled departures, and 53 arrivals are canceled at the airport. A number of flights are also delayed. Travelers are advised to check the Schiphol app or site, or with their airline, for actual flight information.
KLM canceled a total of 78 flights on Thursday - 39 return flights. According to the airline, these cancelations weren't caused only by strong winds around Schiphol, but also by extreme weather conditions in the United Kingdom. On Wednesday KLM canceled another 68 flights due to a power outage in the airline's data center.
