Scooter rider arrested for beating up Amsterdam taxi driver

The police arrested a 48-year-old scooter rider for assaulting a taxi driver in a road rage incident on Stadshouderskade in Amsterdam last week Monday. The taxi driver had to be hospitalized. The suspect confessed to the crime, the police said in a statement.

The incident happened at 4:40 p.m. on Monday, January 8th, on Stadshouderskade near Vondelpark. The scooter rider and taxi driver got into an argument. The taxi driver got out of his car and the scooter rider hit him on the head with his helmet. The taxi driver collapsed and lost consciousness. A trauma helicopter was deployed to the scene and the taxi driver was transported to hospital. He was only discharged from hospital on Thursday.

According to the police, "extensive investigation" led to to the scooter rider's arrest on Friday. He confessed in a statement he gave to the police.
