Breda father arrested for baby's death

The Breda police arrested a 24-year-old man for involvement in his 7-month-old son's death last week, RTL Nieuws reports.

Emergency services responded to the young family's home last week Sunday. The baby boy was admitted to hospital in a critical condition. He died the next day. An autopsy revealed that he did not die of natural causes. A team of 20 detectives were put on the case.

Breda Mayor Paul Depla revealed that the young family was known to the authorities and under guidance, but he refused to give any further comment. "What happened is primarily a drama. What happened before is important, but only after the completion of the criminal investigation", the mayor said, according to the broadcaster.

Sources told RTL that the baby was previously placed out of his parents home for an extended time. The court in Breda only confirmed to the broadcaster that there was a lawsuit about the home situation of the child.
