Girl, 4, at home during mother's fatal stabbing
When pregnant Charlotte Vlooswijk-Zwezerijnen was stabbed to death in her Lopik home on Monday night, her 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship was in the house, RTV Utrecht reports based on various sources.
The seven month pregnant Charlotte was found severely wounded at the door of her home on Monday night. She and her unborn child died shortly thereafter. The police immediately suspected that her boyfriend Teunis Z. was involved and a SWAT team was sent in to search the house. They did not find Z., but did find a dog and the little girl, according to the broadcaster.
The police won't comment on this part of the case, except to say that the girl is being cared for. "She is safe", police spokesperson Jacqueline van Houten said to RTV Utrecht.
The police launched a manhunt for Z. and finally arrested him in a forest in Linschoten at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. While on the run, the man published a post on Facebook blaming relationship troubles for what happened. That post has since been removed.
