Dutch train conductors assaulted by passengers

Two conductors were injured when two passengers assaulted them on a train towards Bergen op Zoom on Monday night. The passengers were arrested, but not before injuring two police officers too, the police said on Twitter.

The two passengers attacked the police officers while resisting arrest on the Bergen op Zoom station. The police eventually had to use pepper spray to subdue them.

According to Omroep Brabant, a bone in one cop's hand was broken and the other was hit in the face. The conductors also received several blows to the face. None of the victims needed hospital treatment, the broadcaster reports.

Why the two passengers assaulted the conductors is unclear. The conductors told the police that they were attacked out of nowhere.
