Tropical heat expected during annual four day hiking event

People participating in the Nijmegen Vierdaagse hike next week, will have to take high temperatures into account, according to Weeronline. From Sunday, temperatures will rise to tropical highs of above 30 degrees on Wednesday, according to the weather service.

The Nijmegen Vierdaagse is happening between Tuesday and Friday next week. Some of the accompanying parties already start on Saturday.

Saturday will be cloudy and cool, with afternoon temperatures around 21 degrees. There will be some light rain, also in Nijmegen. "The amounts [of rain] are negligible, but you can get wet", according to Weeronline.

Sunday will be a fine summer's day, despite being partly cloudy. Afternoon temperatures will be around 24 degrees and it will be warm well into the evening. Monday will have sunshine in the afternoon with temperatures ranging from 20 degrees on the Wadden to 26 degrees in the south.

Tuesday, at the start of the hiking event, will be sunny, with temperatures already rising to 30 degrees in Zuid-Nederland and around 28 degrees in Nijmegen and surroundings. Weeronline advises hikers to wear a light colored hat and to remember the sunscreen.

Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week, with maximum temperatures up to 32 degrees expected. During the afternoon the chance of thunderstorms increases. Thursday and Friday are expected to be less warm, with temps between 24 and 28 degrees, and a good chance of rain and thunderstorms.
