Man found murdered after music festival in Friesland village

A body was found in a meadow in the Friesland village of De Westereen on Sunday morning. The victim was identified as 37-year-old Tjeerd van Seggeren from Kollumerzwaag. The police are still investigating, but the initial conclusion is that the man was killed in a crime.

A passerby found the body in a meadow near the Fûgelsang – Bûterwei crossing around 10:30 a.m. The police immediately closed down the area for investigation. Officers spoke with everyone involved and questioned people in the area. A forensic team also performed a comprehensive trace evidence investigation. This investigation continues on Monday.

According to the police, Van Seggeren attended a music festival in the village on Saturday night. He was last seen leaving the festival area. Investigators would like to talk to anyone who saw him after he left the festival.
