Nearly 120 arrested around Amsterdam's Red Light District in less than a week

The Amsterdam police deployed a special team to fight crime in and around the Red Light District. Over the past five days, this team made a total of 118 arrests, the police said on Facebook.

Arrests were made for a number of crimes, including selling fake and real drugs, violating area bans, weapon possession and violating the immigration law, according to the police.

The special team was made up of members of the neighborhood team and target group teams. The officers were dressed in civilian clothes and focused on the "main nuisances in our area", the police write.

"The number of arrests again proves the usefulness of these actions, and they will therefore be repeated more often", according to the police.
