Boy, 9, saves mom with timely emergency call

A 9-year-old boy may have saved his mother's life by calling the police when she fell ill during the early hours of Monday morning. The boy's timely call to the emergency number meant that his mom received medical aid in time to save her, the Zaanstreek police write on Facebook. "A hero of 9-years-old", the police write.

The frightened boy called the emergency number around 2:00 a.m. on Monday. "He said that his mother was not breathing well and wasn't answering him. Immediately we responded with an ambulance." At the home, responding officers found that the boy was no older than 9.

"Through the actions of the young man, his mother could be helped in time", the police write, ending their post with #respect.
