Ajax pushes through to Europa League final against Manchester

Ajax is through to the Europa League finale, despite a 3-1 loss against Olympique Lyon on Thursday. Due to last week's 4-1 win, the Amsterdam team will play against Manchester United in Stocholm on May 24th. Coach Peter Bosz is delighted, he said to RTL7.

"Inside my heart is racing", "We needed to play football and we did that. Reaching the finals is beautiful. Call it a victory for football."

Ajax played a good first half and Kasper Dolberg even scored the first goal. But Lyon caught up. By halftime the home team was ahead 2-1. "In halftime I said: don't panic they have to score two more times and don't have more then an extension." Bosz said.

Nine minutes before the end of the match Rachid Ghezzal scored another goal, putting Lyon at 3-1 and shortly after that Ajax was brought down to 10 men with a second yellow card for Nick Viergever. But the Amsterdam team stood their ground and Lyon did not manage to score the last needed goal.

On May 24th Ajax will be facing Manchester United in Stockholm. The English team's match against Celta de Vigo ended in a 1-1 draw, after Manchester won 1-0 in Spain. "I'm glad it became United" Bosz said. "A great team. Now we'll have to see if we can really write history."
