Rotterdam police tracking down hooligans in Feyenoord riots
The Rotterdam police are studying surveillance camera footage of riots that broke out in the city after Feyenoord lost 3-0 to Excelsior on Sunday. They are looking for hooligans who were violent during the disturbances, so that they can be arrested to prevent them from ruining the atmosphere during the next Feyenoord match in Rotterdam on Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.
The police will publish the photos of these rioters on their site. It mainly involves people who acted violently towards the police or other persons.
A total of 104 people were arrested during the disturbances after the Feyenoord - Excelsior match on Sunday. Some 40 of them are still in custody - mainly people suspected of public violence. On Tuesday and Wednesday the police will decide whether to arraign them or release them, according to RTL. If they are released, they will be banned from being near De Kuip or the Coolsingel this coming Sunday.
On Sunday Feyenoord has one more chance to become Dutch champion for the first time in 18 years. The Rotterdam team is playing against Heracles in De Kuip.
