Motorist crashes into group of cyclists; two seriously injured
A man from Den Bosch crashed his car into a group of cyclists on Tuesday night in the Gelderland village of Hoenzadriel, north of Den Bosch. Two cyclists were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, Omroep Brabant reports.
The accident happened on a bend on an embankment in the village. The motorist and cyclists were coming from opposite directions and it is believed that the Den Bosch man did not see the people on bicycles.
The motorist hit two of the cyclists. One ended up at the bottom of the embankment, the other landed next to the road. One victim was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. An air ambulance was called for the other. A trauma doctor stabilized the cyclist before he was taken to a hospital in Utrecht in critical condition, according to the broadcaster.
The other cyclists were in shock, but unhurt.
