Dutch man killed in South Africa farm robbery
A Dutch man was killed in an attack on a farm in South Africa on Friday night, South African media reports. The attack happened on the Dutchman's farm near Baberton in the South African province of Mpumalanga.
According to Netwerk 24, the victim is 55-year-old Peet van Es. A friend was visiting the Van Es and his wife when five masked men forced their way into the farmhouse. The woman and friend were tied up with electrical cable while some of the attackers went upstairs, where Van Es was sleeping.
A spokesperson for the local police told Netwerk 24 that Van Es was stabbed to death with a sharp object while struggling against his attackers. His wife told Baberton Times that the attackers eventually left their home in the couple's truck, taking jewelry and electrical appliances with them.
