Netherlands asks India to extradite kidnapped Insiya's father

The Dutch Public Prosecutor filed a legal request with India asking the country to extradite Shehzad Hemani to the Netherlands, the prosecutor revealed in court on Wednesday. The Prosecutor believes Shehzad Hemani is responsible for the kidnapping of his 2-year-old daughter Insiya in Amsterdam last year.

The Prosecutor also wants to question two suspects in Iraq and the United States, AD reports. India is considering the request for extradition, the Prosecutor is still waiting for a response.

Of the eight suspects in the case, which includes Shehzad Hemani, only 48-year-old Robert B. was present at the pro-forma hearing on Wednesday. The Prosecutor believes that Hemani hired B. and six others to kidnap his daughter.

Insiya was kidnapped from Amsterdam in September last year. She still hasn't been reunited with her mother. Insiya's parents are separated and were in the midst of a custody battle when she was taken.
