Fatal shooting of shisha bar owner leads to two more arrests

On Tuesday another two suspects were arrested in the connection with the murder of shisha bar owner Hafed Merkikou in his home in Geleen early last month, De Limburger reports.

The police arrested a 29-year-old man from Heerlen and a 28-year-old man from Maastricht on Tuesday. A 24-year-old man from Stein was previously arrested and is still in custody. What role the police believed they played in the murder is unclear, but they are all expected of involvement.

The murder happened in Merkikou's home on Beatrixlaan in Geleen during the early hours of February 8th. Two masked men invaded Merkikou's home and in a struggle Merkikou was hit by a bullet. He died at the scene.

Merkikou owned a shisha bar on Markt in Sittard.
