ATM bombers arrested after wild police chase
A high-speed car chase on the A15 near Gorinchem ended in the arrest of 4 suspected ATM bombers during the early hours of Friday morning. The car chase reached such speeds that a police car was damaged, according to Dutch newspaper AD.
Around 2:50 a.m. this morning, the police received a report that a Rabobank ATM was bombed in Chaam. Four suspects sped away in a car towards Ulvenhout and Breda. The police sealed of the scene for a forensic investigation and started hunting the perpetrators and their getaway car, also deploying a police helicopter to help wth the search.
Around 3:30 a.m. the suspects' car was spotted on the A15 near Gorinchem, heading towards Nijmegen. Multiple police vehicles and a helicopter gave chase. The police finally managed to bring the car to a stop in Meerkerk around 3:45 a.m. All four people in the car were arrested and taken to the Mijkenbroek cell block in Breda.
The suspects are three men, aged 19, 26 an 30 years, with no permanent place of residence and a 19-year-old man from Liverpool. They are in custody for further investigation.
