Russian remanded into custody for Amsterdam cop's stabbing
A 23-year-old Russian man suspected of stabbing a police officer on Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, will stay in custody for another 60 days, the Public Prosecutor announced on Tuesday.
The stabbing happened on January 15th, just after midnight. According to the Prosecutor, the Russian attacked a patrolling police officer out of nowhere. The police officer sustained an injury to his neck, but not a life threatening one. He was treated in hospital and sent home to recover.
The Russian suspect was arrested shortly after the stabbing an has been in custody since.
The police are also investigating whether the suspect was involved in another Amsterdam attack. On January 13th, a 30 year old British man was attacked and cut on the head.
