Amsterdam mosques to dedicate Friday prayers to mayor Van der Laan
The Union of Moroccan Mosques in Amsterdam and the Amsterdam imam association are calling on all mosques in the city to dedicate the Friday noon prayer to Mayor Eberhard van der Laan, who revealed on Friday that he was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, AT5 reports.
The mosques want to show their support to the Amsterdam mayor. "Let us pray for our beloved mayor", they said in a press release. "Our mayor and his family do not have to go through this difficult time alone. The Amsterdam Muslim community is saddened and whishes Eberhard van der Laan and his family all the strength and support. We will pray for them."
Omapost, an app which lets you send physical cards, released a Eberhardpost update with which you can send a feel better card to the Mayor free of charge.
