Send free get well cards to Amsterdam mayor with Dutch app

The makers of app Omapost is introducing a new feature called Eberhardpost on Tuesday. With this feature users can send free get-well-soon cards to Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan, who announced on Friday that he was diagnosed with cancer.

"We saw in the news that Van der Laan has metastatic lung cancer and thought: this really, really sucks", Wilbert van de Kamp, founder of Omapost, said to Het Parool. "This is a man who is an example for many people. We therefore want to show the mayor support."

Omapost is an app with which you can send physical cards. The app is now getting a special Van der Laan update. Eberhardpost will be available from Tuesday and will remain active for at least two weeks. Anyone who wants to show the Amsterdam mayor support, can send hi a free card wit the new update. The user can choose the text and images that will be in the card. Omapost will pay for the delivery.

"We are trying to make the threshold as low as possible", van de Kamp said to the newspaper. "This saves a visit to the store and having to look up the address of the city hall. And for us it is little trouble."
