Man beaten up for standing up for woman in Eindhoven club

Jamal Williams from Vught ended up in hospital in critical condition after he stood up for a woman in an Eindhoven nightclub on Saturday night. The 24-year-old man confronted a group of men for harassing a woman and was beaten up for his efforts.  

The assault happened around 2:00 a.. on Sunday on Stratumseind. Jamal's mother says that he was beaten to the ground while standing in line at the club. He sustained a brain injury, but is now in stable condition, the mother said according to Brabants Dagblad.

"Three guys were harassing girls." Friend Pim, who witnessed the assault said to Eindhovens Dagblad. ."Jamal asked them not to talk to the girls like that and was immediately punched. they punched a tooth out of his mouth and beat him unconscious. Senseless violence after one remark. Jamal did not even give one push."

An 18-year-old man from Eindhoven was arrested shortly after the assault. According to Omroep Brabant, the police currently see him as the only suspect. The suspect is in custody for further investigation. He will be arraigned on Wednesday.
