Terminally ill boy raises over €1 million for Serious Request

Terminally ill 6-year-old Tijn raised over a million euros for 3FM's Serious Request with his paint-your-nail action. The million mark was reached just after 7:00 a.m. on Friday. This is the first time that an individual action raises so much money for Serious Request, ANP reports.

Tijn is suffering from brain cancer, a disease that is diagnosed in about a dozen children a year. As of yet, there is no cure. With his paint-your-nails action, he challenges people to paint their nails and donate one euro to Serious Request, or not paint your nails and donate 10 euros.

The action started on Wednesday, and in less than 24 hours he raised more than 400 thousand euros. At around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday the amount stood at 700 thousand, and by 10:30 p.m. it was 900 thousand euros. The target was 100 thousand euros.
