Two Haren schools evacuated over threat

Two schools on Rijksstraatweg in Haren, Groningen were evacuated on Monday morning after one of the schools received a "serious threatening email", the Gelderlander reports. The police searched both schools and found nothing suspicious so far, according to the newspaper.

The treaht was directed at the international school in Haren. The adjascent Maartenscollege also received the email. Both schools were evacuated. The police won't comment on what the email contained.

The police are busy finalizing the investigation, which involved searching in and around both schools and trying to determine who sent the email.

The students of both schools were sent home.

"This morning an email arrived at school, which we passed on to the police. The police took the contents of this mail so seriously that they advised us to urgently evacuate the building to allow further investigation", the Maartenscollege writes on its website.

The international school writes: "This morning we received an email we found so threatening that we forwarded it to the police. They took the email very serioulsy and decided to search the school. For this reason we decided to close the school today and send the students home."
