72-year-old arrested after throwing acid on acquaintance’s face
A 72-year-old man from Gaanderen was arrested on Sunday on the suspicion tat he forced his way into a home in Terborg and threw a corrosive substance in the resident's face, the police said in a statement. The victim was rushed to the hospital with minor burns and breathing problems, but was back home by Sunday evening.
According to the police, the incident happened around noon on Sunday in a home on Paasberglaan in Terborg. The police believe the suspect used hydrochloric acid in the attack.
The suspect entered the house wearing a face mask and carrying the bottle of acid. He threw it into the 52-year-old resident's face. The resident managed to force the suspect out of his house and called an ambulance
According to the police, the victim and suspect no each other, but the motive for the attack is unclear. The victim's home was well ventilated before the residents were allowed to return.
